Laura Wilder Rochester,NY

Twenty years ago, inspired by the designs and philosophy of the Arts and Crafts Movement, I quit commercial art and learned printmaking. I submitted my prints and paintings to the Roycroft Renaissance jury, and was awarded the use of the “RR” mark on my work, indicating high quality design and hand-craftsmanship.

I do two kinds of paintings: gouache on rag board, with the look of posters or block prints, and oil on masonite/canvas, in a softer, more traditional style. The designs are my own. The lettering is carefully hand-painted with very small brushes!

Aesthetically, my interest lies in the beauty of sunlight playing within a landscape, especially among trees. My hope is to uplift, inspire, or just provide a bit of soul sanctuary.
