Our encaustic paintings are comprised of multiple layers of pigmented wax resulting in a sculptural, multi-dimensional artwork.  Original drawings, sketches, incised lines, and other elements are often encased within the wax layers.  Charcoal, graphite, pastel, and India ink allow the rendering of fine details as the layers are added.  A custom blend of beeswax and damar resin adds a translucency to give the artwork a glow and depth.  Collaged elements, such as vintage letters, sheet music, or player piano rolls, are often added, giving a hint of color and interest within the wax layers. Many of the artworks are presented in shadowboxes to add structure, texture, and dimension, or to encase a smaller artwork within the original.
