I work with relief printing methods, primarily woodblock and linoleum along with monoprinting. Colored inks or watercolors are added to black line prints which are sometimes cut into, creating layers and a 3D effect.
In each piece, I am expressing my desire to tell a complex story. I explore themes of transformation and change along with the inherent difficulties in dealing with these changes. I’m interested in taking a closer look into these transformations, exposing what’s hidden under the surface both physically and psychologically. I use representational and metaphorical elements together to create narratives that imply specific allegorical themes but are also open-ended and shift between reality and fantasy.
